The ideas that I remember This is for the Hulda Goossen reunion this summer/fall
We had some ideas that we needed to have a Hulda Goossen reunion soon. This could happen whenever we want it too. I guess this will be in Colby Kansas. So Grandma doesn't have to go far.
I like the idea of Oakley, as that would be close to Grandma (it wouldn't take long to take her home when she got tired) and they have a REALLY great pool! - Amberley
No, Amberley, we are also discussing a Hulda Goossen reunion for this summer or fall sometime. We need for everyone to put their 2cents in so we can made some decisions.
I found out today that there are a few places that have room for receptions, and there are a few that cater meals. I just need to check with the individual places for costs, etc. I'll keep you all posted.
Even if we could meet at the gazebo in the park which should be close to the swimming pool, that would be okay. Could Linda check into if it is reserved by rental, or just by showing up first? We'll just have to get there early, everybody bring their camping chairs, some card tables, get some business in Oakley like My Place, I think it's called) to cater a basic meal, and we'd be good to go. When Mom (Grandma) is ready to head back to the home she could go...Surely we couldn't be so unlucky as to have a tornado that day!!??
I'll check on the gazebo, but I think it is a 1st come basis except for the fair BBQ. i think the fair is in July. Colonial steak house caters too. Of course, we could bring food from the grocery stores too. Keep the ideas coming.

Please tell me what you think of this: Let's plan a Hulda Goossen Reunion for Memorial Day weekend next summer (2009) in Oakley Ks. for those who do not know about the town pool, it is like a mini water park, with slides and fountains, shaded areas for watchers and a neat kiddie pool with fountain and water sprayers ect. We can see Hulda, meet at the steakhouse for a meal even visit the museum (which is a neat museum). Could this be a plan???
This sounds fine. It gives us almost a year to plan it, or to make plans with jobs, and other things that tend to take up our weekends. Put your ideas in, everyone. We'd really like to have as big a participation as possible.

2008 or 2009 doesn't matter to me. I did stop by and see Grandma when I was through there in April. But if anyone is "waiting" to see her until the reunion, I would not wait until 2009 to see her. I just wanted to throw that out there.... Hate to be the wet blanket, but I would also hate to have someone put off seeing her, just in case!
