Question???

I guess that I have a question. I heard talk that we need to do a small reunion for the Hulda family. I would like to know how we are going to get this accomplished? We need a date...September 1, 2008 Labor Day? And a place to meet? Food? Activities etc. If we are going to do a reunion this summer we need to get this put together now. We are out of time. Or did I hear wrong. Let us know by leaving comments. Josh

Grandma's Care Plan

I went to the nursing home this morning to meet with the care team about mom/grandma. She is doing well.

She is polite and visits with the staff. They told me that she talks about her children, so I asked which child. They didn't have a name, but told me it is the one who is in Norton. I told them her name is Erna, and they all agreed that she is who mom talks about. I told them I was glad she is talking about her, because none of us had heard her talk about since her birthday party. She was telling the staff about all the things that Erna can do.

She has a decubitis on her right ankle, and they are treating it. They are also putting Lidocaine patches on her back which helps with the back pain.

As far as her mobility, she sits in the wheel chair and gets around without any help. She moves with her feet, but she isn't 'ambulatory'.

She was out to hear the judge this morning. I think she enjoys the reading of the newspaper. She doesn't get out of her room very often, except for meals. She is alone again. She had a roommate, but I guess the roommate wanted a private room. I think mom enjoys being alone.

I don't think she is eating as well and I'd like to see, but she hasn't lost anymore weight, so she is getting something down. She seems to like the snacks they give out.

I sat with her at the table for a while, and the table mates are a whole lot more talkative than mom is. She thanked me for coming, and told me she would save the papers for me. She used to do that when she lived in her home, so I'm not sure if she was confused or not. I just told her thank you.

You know, we should all be so thankful for the mother we have. She is not cantankerous, is so gracious when we come, and to the help, and always has a smile on her face.

I was told that she has received some emails, but I didn't see them in the room, so the girl who takes care of them is going to get a notebook to put them in so mom can reread them. I think that will be a good thing.

I hope you are all able to read the blog, and Josh is going to send a "Dummies guide to get on the blog" to all of you, so you can put your comments on it.

If you have any other suggestions for the family to keep in touch, please let us all know. If I don't have your email address' for all of the family members, please let me know.

Thanks.

Linda

Reunion 2010

Then we need to have some decision on the Franz/Goossen Reunion of 2010. The consensus is that we will use Carole and plot the city's on a map and find the closest location with some facilities for fun and to house all of us.

I think that we should find out the median age or even the different ages so that we could delegate the activities to people to make it more enjoyable for everyone.

We will also need things like accomidations, food, activities, contacts, mailings, etc.

Just some thoughts...

The ideas that I remember This is for the Hulda Goossen reunion this summer/fall

We had some ideas that we needed to have a Hulda Goossen reunion soon. This could happen whenever we want it too. I guess this will be in Colby Kansas. So Grandma doesn't have to go far.

OK Here we go

I hope that this will work for everyone. This is I guess a trial and if it does not we can try something else. I have also set up an generic email for us too. I will send that to everyone.
